Worley’s Home Services specializes in reliable heating replacement for homeowners in the greater Hampton Roads area and is here to help you find the right type of home heating system.

Heat Pumps

A typical furnace heater will last between ten and twenty years, and if your furnace is nearing that age, a lot has changed since your unit was installed. Heat pumps have emerged as an efficient and versatile replacement for home heating, for a few reasons:

  • They provide both heating and cooling power in one.
  • They are more efficient than a gas furnace or boiler.
  • They do not require the burning of fossil fuel to operate.

Heat pumps can connect directly to your existing central ductwork, and can operate so efficiently by moving heat instead of creating it. Even in sub-freezing temperatures, a heat pump can collect heat from the outside air and send it indoors, where it is dispersed through your air vents, making heat pumps one of the best heating systems for a house.

Many people believe heat pumps only work in small spaces, but heat pumps can also be good for larger homes with a well-maintained and designed central ductwork system.

Ductless Mini-Split

Heat pumps can also be made to operate independently of any ductwork, and these systems are called ductless mini splits. Ductless mini splits are heat pumps that offer targeted heating and cooling directly to the area they are installed in. Mini splits are great for recent additions to a home like an extra bedroom, a finished garage, or an enclosed porch.

Gas Furnace

A gas furnace burns fossil fuel, usually natural gas, to heat up air which is then sent through your ductwork and into your home. While gas furnaces are widely used and can be efficient, they do rely on the combustion of fossil fuels in addition to electricity. Depending on the size and design of your home, an efficient, well maintained, and correctly sized gas furnace may still be the best option.

Gas Boiler

Gas boiler home heating systems burn fossil fuel as well, however, boilers heat up water into steam which is sent to your home using baseboard pipes. Gas boilers do not require ductwork, so if it is time to replace your boiler, the most cost-effective and efficient options are to replace your gas boiler with a new and efficient boiler, or switch to a whole-home system of ductless mini-splits.
